NUM have received funding from Trust for London under their “Decent Living Standards” stream to further develop our Vocation, Vocation, Vocation work within London!

Sex workers may choose to leave sex work for a variety of reasons; some in response to an urgent need, and others as part of longer-term career goals. The results of this project will help to shape pathways for sex workers in London who wish to leave sex work, diversify their income, or reduce their financial reliance on it.

What are we hoping to achieve with this project?

We want to:

  • Conduct research into the barriers to leaving sex work
  • Create vocational support pathways developed based on sex workers’ needs and priorities
  • Create a network of vocational support organisations committed to delivering sex worker-friendly services and resources
  • Create a digital heat map of support for sex workers choosing to leave sex work, and an offline version, both for use amongst sex workers and practitioners
  • Advocate to policy makers with regards to the unique needs and barriers that sex workers face in leaving sex work to create decent living standards for those within and outside sex work, and for investment in appropriate resources
