A Letter to the Chancellor: Ensuring the resources needed to close the gap in healthy life expectancy
28 October 2024
NUM have co-signed a letter alongside National Voices and 63 other health and social care organisations to the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves. Ahead of the Autumn Budget, the letter puts forth 3 key asks to ensure the third sector and those it advocates for have the resources needed to support the Government’s ambition of, “halving the gap in healthy life expectancy between the richest and poorest regions in England.”
These three asks are:
- VCSE Health and Wellbeing Alliance investment
- Introduce measures to reduce the health impact of the rising cost of living
- Review legacy donation mechanisms.
