National Ugly Mug Meals

 

The Covid-19 pandemic has had devastating effects on our members who experience increased vulnerabilities and financial insecurity. Many have been forced to enter sex industries and engage in survival sex work due to limited options to earn money. NUM has been providing emergency care packages to sex workers and their families throughout the pandemic.

In our most recent survey of sex workers, loss of income was the number one impact the pandemic has had on sex workers, with 90% stating they had either totally lost or had a reduction in their income and over half  reporting that they were having difficulty paying their bills or rent. This leaves many sex workers struggling to buy food for themselves or their children while we assist them in finding other sources of revenue.

We ask for your support to provide care packages for emergency food and hygiene supplies to prevent our members from taking risks that compromise their health and safety and make them susceptible to violence.

These packages will also be offered to sex workers who experience violence, to prevent them from having to go back to do sex work while they heal and recover form harm.

Our Mug Meals Campaign means those who desperately need temporary support get it.
