NUM receives 3 years of funding from National Lottery Community Fund
3 October 2022

NUM has been awarded £256,186 for our ‘Sex Workers Too: Increasing Safety, Violence Reporting and Support to Survivors’ project from the National Lottery Community Fund (TNLCF).  Following on from NUMbrella Lane in Glasgow receiving 3 years’ of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for Scotland, we are delighted to announce that NUM has also received funds from the NLCF to continue and develop our vital safety, support and wellbeing services for sex workers.

The funding from the NLCF will support our casework team as they continue to provide specialist support to sex workers facing violence throughout their lives, to heal from harm and seek justice in the ways that they choose. It will also support the further development of our vocational support services, as we create resources that will mean sex workers have greater choice on if/how they integrate sex work as part of their lives and financial planning. This will involve CV workshops, group sessions and an emergency fund to provide financial support for sex workers fleeing violence or who need to take a break from sex work.

Emma Corrigan, England Director at The National Lottery Community Fund, said: “We’re proud to be able to continue our support for charities and community groups across England over the summer, delivering valuable funding to almost 2,000 life-changing projects, all thanks to National Lottery players. Combined, the £65 million will make a huge difference to the lives of many; building skills, building connections, and helping communities to prosper and thrive.”

We would like to thank the National Lottery for their support, and everyone who has contributed through playing and donating to their fund. We look forward to developing our work further to continue and expand our services for sex workers across the UK, to support them in the ways that they choose to be.
