Members Contribute to Improve NPCC Guidelines on Policing and Sex Work
20 June 2024
The NPCC (National Police Chiefs Council) have created a set of guidance to support police in improving sex workers’ safety, and establishing greater trust between sex workers and the police.
This guidance is now undergoing a consultation process, and NUM has partnered with the ECP to gather responses and ensure that sex workers have the opportunity to have their voices heard in a safe and anonymous way.
The questions we will ask correspond to questions that we have been asked to provide evidence on from the NPCC. These topics include the terminology used to refer to sex work and sex workers, the use and policing of adult services websites, and the impact of brothel-keeping legislation and police intervention.
