NUM, Basis Yorkshire and POW Nottingham Receive 3 Years’ of Funding for our SWISWA Partnership Project
18 July 2024

National Ugly Mugs, POW Nottingham and Basis Yorkshire are excited to be among the 4,000 community groups that have been awarded a share of the £203 million in funding from the National Lottery Community Fund! Our SWISWA Partnership Project will ensure that sex workers receive consistent and quality specialist sex worker ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) support to prevent and heal from violence, and to access the resources and support that they need to improve the quality of their lives.

Our ‘SWISVA Partnership Project’ will improve health outcomes, increase access to  recovery and healing spaces, provide coordinated crisis support and other services, in addition to improving sex workers’ experiences of reporting in West Yorkshire, Nottingham, Greater Manchester, and nationally.

All three of our organisations will work together to contribute evidence from our service delivery to inform policies and practices that affect sex workers’ safety and life chances, and to collectively advocate for improved sex worker health and protection.

The project aims to continue partnership work with support organisations and advocacy groups, develop and share strategies, knowledge and good practice guidance for serving sex workers affected by violence.

Thanks to investment from TNLCF, we will be jointly hiring project staff soon.

We look forward to delivering this project with, by and for sex workers!
